One Step at a Time

Posted by Mia Venus on Tuesday, 21-05-2013

Ever believed when someone tells you that what’s meant for you will be given to you? Like, maybe not now but sometime in the future…yeah, that sort of thing?

Well, my mom told me the same thing when I decided to apply for a full-time teaching job at some school a town away from where I live. She was surprisingly supportive of the idea of me trying to get a full time teaching job. It was a bit odd and shocking as not too long ago she mentioned something between the lines of “I want you to manage the resto…” and “I don’t think you need to teach-for now.” and then came the upsettypoopy thing about my part time teaching job, which I find offending and she-well, she’s just probably insensitive of the fact that teaching is what I want to do.

Then came the “I want to move out soon…” scenario which caused a rough two weeks between my mother and I. We hardly talked nor looked each other straight in the eyes. To be honest, after that, I still find talking to her a bit awkward, which is really weird because she used to be like a BFF to me, but enough of that, the point is she’s finally at ease with my decision.

My application was filled up and filed. I was asked to wait for their call about my teaching demonstration… but four days later, I still haven’t got my schedule, but I’m still trying to stay positive because the lady from the human resource office replies quickly to my inquiries. Some part of me though tells me that I should just let it go and that it happens-you know, applications being denied. But in my entire life, I have never heard of a teacher being denied of a teaching job. So I’ll probably take that a positive energy to keep me contacting the people from that school, besides one of my college best friends (the other one aside from my hubbie and Felice) works there and he said that there’s still a vacant slot for an English teacher left for the second or first grade.

I’m holding on to that. But if it’s not for me… well, I guess that’s okay. If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be. But, dear God! I swear I pray hard for it every day since I applied last week. I really wanted to work there but I guess if the job is not given to me…well, perhaps it would be given to someone who needs it more than I do. But I still hope that I’m that person.

There are a lot of things that I really want to do right now… but I guess I still have a long way to go and perhaps a lot of time to do all those things, one step a time.

Before I end, let me go completely off topic here. Two great blog friends of mine decided to include me in the nomination list of the Versatile Bloggers thing. Thank you so much Trish and Aian!
